Berries of a Viking

It's been very hot in the UK* for the last week, so much so that the weather agency issued a warning, suggesting people should not travel unless they really need to.

The last few days have been challenging, sleep-wise. Our bedroom is like a furnace even with an oscillating fan roaring away and three nights of broken sleep have left me feeling a bit rough.

On the way into work I stopped off at the shops and bought a chocolate bar and a can of "Viking Berry" Monster Juiced energy drink, which I consumed maybe a little too swiftly.

You know how there's this internet saying that "there are two wolves inside you"? At the moment, thanks to these Viking berries, inside me is a nest of rats inside a wasp's nest - the occupants of which are fighting angrily.

I'm jittery and fidgety and slightly manic - manic enough to feel like this is worthy of posting. I'm wondering how long this will last and what the comedown is going to feel like...

*The UK is not equipped to deal with weatherly extremes. We generally don't have A/C as the two days of properly hot weather we usually get per year render it an extravagant and seldom used purchase. So we don't have US-style A/C units, or Australian verandas, or Mediterranean window shutters; we just have a moan about the heat over a cup of tea that we've left to cool a bit longer than usual.
